Roswell Omnitech Corporation (ROC for short)

The corporation was founded in 1947 in Roswell, New Mexico, producing parts and technology for the ongoing rocketry programs started there in the 1930's , and continuing as an exclusive defense contractor until the closure of Walker AFB in 1967. Around that time, ROC became a publicly traded company, still with extensive defense contracts, but branching out into all fields of high technology. By the end of the 20th century, it had quietly gobbled up better known companies like Lockheed-Martin and General Electric.

In the 150 years since that time, acquisitions and mergers have made ROC the premier technology company on the planet, in fields from nuclear energy to computer nanochip manufacture to nanotech repair systems and advanced robotics. They are one of the top three producers of neural interfacing cybernetics. Because of their extensive experience with dangerous robotics and cybernetics, their STAR (Special Tactics and Response) teams are considered the optimal choice for dealing with rogue robotics and cyber-enhanced individuals.

ROC owns patents and copyrights to many technologies that the others of the Big Nine would want, but very carefully guards them, both in the courts of law, and with very high levels of security.

The ROC-STAR teams have their own dedicated team of lawyers to handle problems incurred while operating on the sovereign territory of other corporations or even national governments.
