The Kabouter (Mythological kobold)

The kabouter are greedy and miserly spirits of the mines, jealous of their territory and easily angered. But if treated well by humanoid miners, they can become great patrons of those miners, helping them find good ore and shoring up their mines. If slighted, though, they can be vengeful, and may well take horrible vengeance if the people they have decided to aid are hurt or threatened.
